Code of conduct and data protection

Member List : The FSSoc occasionally makes its membership list available to other organisations which may wish to post out information. If you do not wish your name to be included on our mailing list please tick the box.

Application for Fellow, Member or Affiliate of the Forensic Science Society Qualifications

Candidates will normally have an undergraduate or post graduate degree in science or other subject relating to the practice of Forensic Science; a national qualification eg HND; SOC Diploma; FSSoc Diploma; Diploma in Forensic Pathology of the Royal College of Pathologists; Diploma in Medical Jurisprudence or an equivalent qualification.

The application should be supported by two referees, at least one of whom should be a member of the Society. (The panel will in exceptional circumstances accept references from appropriate eminent persons neither of whom are members.) Both referees should have known the applicant for at least two years. Fellows only: One referee should be from outside your workplace. (This is to ensure independence of opinion).

Both referees will be contacted directly by the Membership Secretary of the FSSoc and asked to provide a reference to support your application, and for their views on your professional competence, behaviour, integrity and commitment to continuing professional development.

Application for Student Membership of the Forensic Science Society

Notes:

  1. Please notify the Forensic Science Society if you change your name and/or address while the declaration is in force.

  2. You can cancel the declaration at any time by notifying the Forensic Science Society. It will then not apply to payments you make on or after the date of cancellation or such future date that you specify.

  3. You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that the Forensic Science Society reclaims on your donation in the tax year.

  4. If in the future your circumstances change and you no longer pay tax on your income and capital gains equal to the tax the Forensic Science Society reclaims you can cancel your declaration (see Note 2).

  5. If you pay tax at the higher rate you can reclaim further tax relief on your Self Assessment tax return.
